15th October 2018 is Global Handwashing Day
The simple act of handwashing is probably the most important thing we can do to protect the health, well-being and productivity for ourselves, our families and our communities – especially at this time of year when the symptoms of cold and flu start to appear.
However, repeated studies have shown that not enough people wash their hands as frequently as they should, or are not washing them for long enough to remove bacteria – despite copious research highlighting the benefits of hand hygiene. Easy and affordable, hand washing can effectively help prevent infection.
Monday 15th October marks Global Handwashing Day; a day designed to raise awareness and boost understanding about the importance of hand hygiene. This year, the theme focuses on the links between handwashing and food – including food hygiene. Handwashing is an important part of keeping food safe and preventing contamination in catering workplaces.
“Clean hands – a recipe for health” reminds us to make hand washing a part of every meal – whether you are in the kitchen preparing, waiting staff serving, or indeed a diner yourself. Jangro is here to help your catering, leisure or hospitality facility implement a successful hand hygiene campaign, supplying products, dispensers, and signage suitable for catering staff in the kitchen, as well as for customers’ use in the washroom.
All bactericidal hand hygiene products we offer conform to key standards including EN 1499, EN1276 and EN13727. Our Cleaning & Hygiene Supplies Catalogue gives further details of our latest washroom range, including perfumed and unperfumed liquid soaps, foams, sanitising gels and wipes. You will also find a range of wall charts and posters, including a guide to hand washing, which can be downloaded for free and used in facilities.
We also know that having a range of options available can increase the likelihood that a person will wash or sanitise their hands more regularly, and more effectively. That’s why we offer dispenser options to suit all preferences. Touch-free dispensers are becoming increasingly popular as they intuitively sense the hands and dispense the right amount of product – the fact that they are also touch-free enhances their hygiene rating. We also have a specially-developed range of hand washing dispensers and products for children called Jangronauts, which helps children to learn the importance of hand hygiene in a fun, interactive and educational way.
